Forming global citizens: one of the great challenges of modern education

International Youth Day was celebrated on August 12, a date promoted by the United Nations (UN) to encourage the active participation of young people in all areas of society and to recognize the importance of empowering youth to be agents of change in one of the major objectives of today’s world: to build a more sustainable, inclusive and prosperous planet.

For this, there is undoubtedly a basic concept and it is the global citizen, and it is that the global citizen is one who is able to build a just and sustainable society, as it redefines the way it relates to the other, with the planet and terrestrial life.

The question would be then, how can the world manage to form global citizens? It is here where schools play a fundamental role, since through these institutions it is possible to instill in people from their youth those values, attitudes and behaviors that form the basis of global citizenship.
