Colombian students were selected to join the space immersion at NASA

This involves 35 students from Colegio Hacienda Los Alcaparros, who will explore the world of science and technology through hands-on activities. From March 15 to 22, a group of 35 students from Colegio Hacienda Los Alcaparros was selected to participate in a space immersion program at the Astronaut Training Experience Facility, located at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, near NASA’s operations base.

During the immersion, they will explore space science and technology through practical activities, including teamwork challenges and exercises in simulated microgravity environments. They will also take part in a launch simulation, allowing them to experience what astronauts feel as they prepare for a deep-space exploration mission.

To complement this educational experience, the students will have the opportunity to interact with NASA astronauts, who will share their experiences and knowledge about life in space and international space missions.

These encounters allow young students to connect directly with key figures in space exploration, an opportunity that will undoubtedly shape their vision of the future. They will also participate in a launch simulation, experiencing firsthand what astronauts go through when preparing for a deep-space mission.

“This experience will transform participants by changing how they perceive themselves as students and projecting them toward a future as professionals, scientists, or engineers. It will also prepare them to face global challenges in various fields, such as technology, agriculture, and medicine,” said Farid Salgado, Middle School Coordinator at Colegio Hacienda Los Alcaparros.

He added that this immersion experience will enable students to take their knowledge beyond the classroom and confront real-world challenges in an inspiring environment. “Experiences like these not only foster critical thinking and problem-solving but also strengthen essential skills such as communication and collaboration,” he stated.

As part of this immersive experience, students will also participate in a series of interactive workshops designed to deepen their understanding of specific disciplines such as robotics and rocketry.
